LA CITÉ FRANCOPHONE is a signature construction in the heart of Edmonton’s Francophone community. The neighbourhood boasts a population of over 5,000, many of whom, like Bistro staff, are bilingual French.
La Cité recently allocated nearly $1 million to developing its new bistro and three adjoining reception rooms on the main floor. Bistro La Persaud seats 61 guests; the banquet rooms seat 284. Large windows overlook a licensed patio where patrons dine alfresco during the summer. - SCROLL DOWN -
La Cité is considered the hub of businesses and services for Edmonton’s French community. It includes a bookstore, post office, theatre, and is home to the offices of the local French Canadian organization.
The building itself features a large lobby area where special events are sometimes held. It is located across the street from the Campus Saint-Jean of the University of Alberta in Bonnie Doon. The theatre hosts a variety of cultural events such as concerts and plays and the community’s own French language theatre group.
